Performance & UPF Rope Caps

Most caps sold as performance are cotton twill with a marketing line. A performance cap is a specific thing: a wicking synthetic face fabric, a wicking sweatband, and where sun is the point, a tested UPF rating we will put on the quote.

The sweatband matters more than anything else on a hot day. A cotton band saturates and then leaves a permanent tide mark on the front panel — the reason most golf caps are retired. A wicking band moves it out and dries.

Fabric weight is a real trade: lighter is cooler and shows stitching more; heavier holds embroidery better and runs warmer. We state the weight and will recommend a woven patch instead of dense stitching where the fabric is very light.

A cotton sweatband saturates and wicks salt and oils into the front panel, where it dries as a permanent mark. A wicking synthetic band is the fix, and it costs very little.
