Choosing a Rope Colour

The rope costs almost nothing and it is the first thing the eye lands on. It deserves more thought than it usually gets.

Tonal reads premium

A rope in the same family as the crown makes the cap look considered and expensive, and it lets the logo do the talking.

It is the safe answer for corporate, resorts and anywhere the cap sits next to other branded items.

Contrast rescues a plain cap

On a plain twill cap with a small logo, a contrast rope is the single cheapest way to make it look designed rather than blank.

It is also the easiest place to put a brand colour, because on a rope it reads as a deliberate accent rather than as a colour-matched crown that is slightly off.

Twin ropes carry two colours

Two braids side by side cost very little more and let a two-colour brand appear without crowding the crown. It is currently the detail that makes a stock silhouette look like a product somebody designed.

On patterned fabric, go contrast

A tonal rope disappears against camo or heather. One clear contrast rope gives the eye somewhere to land and stops the cap reading as a texture swatch.

Approve it on a real rope

Braided cord twists, so light reads across it differently from flat fabric — a rope that matches a paper chip can look a shade off in the hand.

We send a physical rope swatch before any custom-colour run. It takes a day and it prevents the only mistake in this that cannot be fixed afterwards.
